Note: Alföldi reports that specimen I125.3 was once part of the Messenger collection. This coin collection was sold by Glendining
(1951), but the relevant auction catalogue unfortunately does not provide any photograph nor an individual description for
all the pieces offered for sale. Specimen I125.3 may have been included in lot 245, which consists of 27 specimens including
tokens, miscellaneous small Roman bronzes, and small Lybian bronzes. According to the auction catalogue used for the sale
of Messenger’s collection in 1951, which is kept at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, lot 245 was purchased by Philip Grierson,
who donated part of it to the Fitzwilliam Museum. However, specimen I125.3 was not part of Grierson’s donation, and is not
currently traceable.
