Token Specimens from the Ancient Mediterranean

A database of token specimens from the ancient Mediterranean, created as part of the Token Communities in the Ancient Mediterranean Project, which has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 678042. Tokens of Athens were further supported by the project 'Tokens and their Cultural Biography in Athens from the Classical Age to the End of Antiquity', a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action, and received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement No 794080-2. Tokens of Late Antiquity were supported by the project ‘The Creation of Tokens in Late Antiquity. Religious «tolerance» and «intolerance» in the Fourth and Fifth centuries AD’ and received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 840737; as well as the project VOTA – The “Vota Publica” Tokens from Late Antique Rome: Isiac and Egyptian Cults within a Christianizing Roman Empire, and received funding from the NRRP, Mission 4, ‘Education and Research’ – Component 2, ‘From Research to Business’ – Investment line 1.2, ‘Funding projects presented by young researchers’ (European Union – NextGenerationEU, CUP J43C22001030001, ID code MSCA_0000015, proposal no. CFFE1C55). The project was led by Cristian Mondello at the University of Messina, Italy.
